A Room to Heal Volunteer Engagement VISTA

Please note:  This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, not a standard job. VISTAs serve for one year (35 hours/week) with a not-for-profit or government agency; in return for their year of service VISTAs are awarded a living allowance ($24,962) and an education award ($7,395) to be put towards tuition or federally-backed student loans. VISTAs are also eligible for no-cost health coverage, child care subsidies, college loan forbearance, and relocation benefits. VISTA positions cannot be fully remote and due to regional requirements, the VISTA must live in the area where they serve. 

The A Room to Heal Volunteer Engagement VISTA will serve with A Room to Heal, transforming the lives of children facing serious medical challenges by creating personalized healing spaces that address their medical, physical, and emotional needs. The goal of this project is to build A Room to Heal’s long-term capacity to serve more children and families and help create healthier futures for the children it serves. The VISTA will focus on strengthening volunteer management, program management, and impact tracking so the organization can operate more effectively, demonstrate its outcomes more clearly, and expand its reach. The VISTA will serve with a hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 days at home). 
 

Required Qualifications

  • Two-year degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage details, timelines, and multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable using basic technology, including email, shared documents, spreadsheets, and online tools.
  • Comfortable with data tracking, surveys, spreadsheets, and basic reporting.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and help develop systems that strengthen the organization.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive family and program information with care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A personal vehicle.
  • Four-year degree.
  • Experience with Canva, Google Forms, and CRM systems
  • Experience with volunteer engagement, nonprofit work, community service, program support, or outreach
  • Interest in impact tracking, storytelling, process improvement, or nonprofit capacity building.
