EMS Sustainability VISTA

Please note:  This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, not a standard job. VISTAs serve for one year (35 hours/week) with a not-for-profit or government agency; in return for their year of service VISTAs are awarded a living allowance ($24,962) and an education award ($7,395) to be put towards tuition or federally-backed student loans. VISTAs are also eligible for no-cost health coverage, child care subsidies, college loan forbearance, and relocation benefits. VISTA positions cannot be fully remote and due to regional requirements, the VISTA must live in the area where they serve.

The EMS Sustainability & Community Outreach VISTA will serve with Chenango Ambulance Services (CAS) in Binghamton, NY with the aim of building organizational capacity and long-term financial viability. To address the primary obstacle of rising operational costs, the VISTA will focus on revenue sustainability through capital grant research for clinical equipment and federal compliance reporting. Simultaneously, the VISTA will lead a shift toward a sustainable, resident-centric volunteer model by recruiting long-term local responders while providing critical health and safety education, such as ASHI CPR and Stop the Bleed, to the community and new volunteers.

Candidates with experience in EMS, medical, or fire services are preferred, but this experience is not required. A valid driver's license is required for this role.
