Transfer Articulation Specialist II

ABOUT

 

The Transcript Articulation Specialist II is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Manager, Transcript Articulation. The Transfer Articulation Specialist II leads work in the daily operation of the transcript evaluations, applying specialized knowledge in the analysis and evaluation of academic student records. Incumbents exercise more responsibility and independent judgment to resolve more complex problems and improve work processes.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes course descriptions and transfer of credit policies to determine transfer of credit eligibility.
  • Interprets course descriptions, including foreign and domestic transcripts for courses and units completed, identifies upper and lower division courses, converts quarter units into semester units, and computes units and grade points to determine transfer equivalency credit.
  • Utilizes resources including TES, online college catalogs, course descriptions/syllabi, correspondence with the institutions involved, articulation agreements, and other appropriate reference materials to evaluate academic records. 
  • Communicates with colleagues and academic advisors to ensure accurate decisions on course equivalencies and processes.
  • Generates and prepares monthly transfer articulation reports.
  • Enters coursework and established equivalencies into the BANNER system. 
  • Determines that all credentials required for transcript evaluations have been received, are authentic, and official.
  • Conduct independent research, analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
  • Determine if institutions are accredited; evaluate transfer transcript coursework for TJC equivalencies.
  • Cross-trains with team members to fulfill office duties and ensure efficient operations; answers the telephone and responds to email inquiries; prints and mails documents, maintains filing, and creates or updates documents.
  • Reviews course catalogs from all Texas state colleges for new courses, changes of course numbers, programs, and grading systems. 
  • Work closely with the manager to develop a library of materials & training manual and update guides, incorporating new information into transfer equivalency guides, and other tools used to assist the transcript evaluators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in 

Required Experience

One year of experience working in a registrar's office/ transcript evaluations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two year of experience working in a registrar's office/ transcript evaluations
  • Expertise in transfer of credit scenarios involving a wide variety of degree-granting institutions.
  • Experience working in Banner

Additional Job-Specific Requirements

  • Must have knowledge and skill to operate a personal computer. 
  • Experience with online databases/student information systems required.
