Licensed Practical Nurse

Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour

Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct clinical care and support to clinicians in a fast-paced urology practice. This role goes beyond standard medical assistant responsibilities, requiring advanced clinical skills, independent judgment, and the ability to perform specialized urologic procedures. You will play a critical role in patient care, procedural support, and ensuring efficient clinic operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability and clinic throughput
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
  • Prepares patients for examination; obtains and documents vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Performs advanced clinical procedures within scope of practice, including catheter insertions, removals, and troubleshooting (e.g., clogs), voiding trials, injections, rectal swabs, and phlebotomy
  • Administers medications and injections as ordered by the provider in accordance with clinical protocols
  • Assists providers with urology-specific procedures and exams
  • Ensures all pre-visit work is completed, including labs, imaging, and consult notes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date EMR documentation, including medications, allergies, and relevant clinical history
  • Provides patient education regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Monitors patients during and after procedures, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
  • Coordinates care, including lab orders, referrals, and follow-up appointments
  • Reconciles medications, processes refills, and discontinues inactive prescriptions per protocol
  • Performs point-of-care testing and specimen collection as appropriate
  • Maintains exam rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment in accordance with infection control and safety standards
  • Assists in addressing patient concerns and escalates clinical issues appropriately

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Massachusetts
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and general computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in urology, surgical, or specialty practice setting
  • Experience performing catheterization, injections, and phlebotomy
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care coordination
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative care team
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly pay for this role is expected to range from approximately $28.00 to $38.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
