Medical Assistant Urology
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Job description:
- On site job training. Certification not required.
- Assist practitioners with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies, vasectomies, prostate biopsies, circumcisions, hydrocele aspirations, catheterizations, etc. as needed.
- Record patients’ medical history, vital signs and test results in medical records.
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms while preparing them for the physician.
- Collect, label, and process blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens for testing.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and practitioner’s instructions to patients.
- Help practitioners examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing tasks such as removing urinary catheters.
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat, clean and stocked.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
- Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation and completing insurance forms.
- Monitor inventory and order medical, lab, and office supplies and equipment.
- Conduct routine quality control, laboratory tests and assist with equipment setup, troubleshooting and maintenance.
