The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the position of Certified Addiction Counselor to join our team.
Connecticut Valley Hospital is Connecticut’s largest state-operated inpatient behavioral health system, providing specialized psychiatric and addiction treatment services to individuals with complex behavioral health needs. The Addiction Services Division Merritt 3AB unit provides residential rehabilitation services for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders in a supportive, recovery-focused environment.

- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 2nd shift, Sunday - Thursday 12:00pm - 8:30pm

In this role, you will provide direct support and treatment services to individuals in recovery, assist with discharge planning and community connections, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team to support positive patient outcomes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Certification from the Connecticut Department of Public Health as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and three (3) years of experience involving risk reduction education and counseling to assist alcohol and drug dependent individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- Licensure from the Connecticut Department of Public Health as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor may be substituted for the General Experience.
- For state employees three (3) years of experience as a Certified Addiction Counselor Trainee may be substituted for the General Experience.
