Green Puyallup Specialist - Pierce Conservation District

This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. To serve in AmeriCorps you must be a U.S. citizenU.S. national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States. Please do not inquire if you do not meet these requirements.

The Green Puyallup Specialist supports Pierce Conservation District’s work to increase knowledge of watershed health and impact positive behavior change. Duties include:

  • Plan and lead habitat stewardship activities in collaboration with volunteers.
  • Collect water samples for monitoring and compile lab results for reporting.
  • Support stream-side residence to remove invasive species and add habitat boosting native plants.
  • Write for existing publications and update website content.
  • Create digital media such as videos and GIS story maps.
  • Participate in environmental professionals’ networks.
  • Design educational materials and lesson plans to promote conservation and water quality behaviors—especially targeting youth.
  • Participate in PCD AmeriCorps cohort trainings and service projects.

Monthly stipend: $2,438

About Us

Pierce Conservation District is government that works. We conserve and restore the natural resources of Pierce County. Maintaining water quality is critical to our efforts. The member will support three activities: habitat stewardship, water quality monitoring, and restoration. This position requires significant community engagement. The member will collaborate with volunteers and property owners to protect and restore stream-side habitat and open space. They will also monitor and report on water quality and educate the community on water quality issues. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in late May - early June.
