Planning Intern

Definition of Class

  • This is an intern position responsible for supporting Planning Program Administrators to implement planning programs and projects in various areas: Coastal Zone Management, Community Development Block Grants, Land Use Planning, Environmental Sustainability, Housing Rehabilitation, Parks & Recreation, and Municipal Assistance. This position will assist the administrator with management, administration and monitoring projects. This position requires a mature individual who is able to carry out work tasks individually, as well as collaboratively as part of a group. Supervision is received from the Planning Program Administrators.

Nature of Work

  • The Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development is a dynamic and creative team committed to improving the quality of life for the residents of Erie County through its programs and services. The department serves the community in a variety of program areas including: community development block grants, municipal assistance, recycling, transportation, coastal and water resources, housing rehabilitation, parks and recreation, greenways, and grant writing. Planning and Community Development team members are challenged to develop and deploy innovative solutions to community development in Erie County.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The intern will carry out activities leading to and related to support of the programs of the Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development. This position will assist the administrator with the management, administration, monitoring of projects and programs.
