Safekey Site Assistant
Site assistants are assigned a regional area of up to 12 school sites as their primary work location, however, may be reassigned to another area temporarily or permanently based on operational needs.
The essential functions of a site assistant include but are not limited to...
Provides oversight and supervision of program participants and ensures participants are following program rules, expectations, and safety guidelines
Adheres to and enforces program safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
Plans and facilitates structured program activities on a daily basis. Programming and curriculum must be age-appropriate and include physical activities (indoor and outdoor), literacy, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), arts and crafts, holiday themed activities, homework time, etc.
Maintains the physical agility necessary to demonstrate and maintain sports and other recreation games and activities, including the ability to move, lift and maintain equipment up to 25 lbs.
Maintains the physical agility necessary to provide rapid response in urgent or time sensitive situations, including, but not limited to kneeling on the floor and returning to standing position to assist a child, traversing stairs, keeping pace with the children when they are moving and other physical activities as needed to provide the safety, welfare, and security necessary.
Provides active, roving supervision of indoor and outdoor activities for extended periods (60 minutes or more)while standing and walking in varying weather conditions, including heat.
Assists with site opening and closing procedures including cleaning and disinfecting, organizing and set-up/takedown of program area, equipment and supplies
Ensures all program equipment and supplies are in a safe, operational, and presentable condition
Professionally completes written and electronic administrative tasks such as participant sign in and out, snack distribution sheets, fire drills, citizen incident reports, inappropriate behavior tracking reports, attendance monitoring, etc.
Assists with communication and provides positive customer service for program participants, families, community partners, and internal customers in accordance with city Values.
Provides substitute support and adjusts to unexpected changes in work assignments, locations, or schedules as required.
Models enthusiasm, innovation, motivation, initiative and involvement
Completes and maintains all department required trainings and certifications.
Provides assistance to full time or part time classified staff or designee, and other duties as assigned.
Safekey Site Assistant (On Call)
On call site assistants are provided a schedule on a weekly basis and provide additional or substitute support at any and all 70+ program locations
on an as needed basis. Employees will generally receive their weekly schedule by Friday prior, but employees are also required to adjust to unexpected changes in work assignments, locations, or schedules as required.
The essential functions of an on-call site assistant encompass those of a site assistant and in addition include, but are not limited to
Travels to multiple work locations on a daily and weekly basis. Locations may include any of the 70+ city of Las Vegas Safekey school sites.
Safekey Site Leader
Site leader essential functions encompass those of a site assistant and in addition include, but are not limited to
Provides oversight and supervision of the program participants and site assistants
Ensures the planning, programming and execution of the daily operations, schedule, safety guidelines and programcurriculum are being implemented to standard
Ensures programs and activities are structured to best meet program needs
Monitors site inventory and submits supply and equipment requests (this includes requests for replacement of damaged, unsafe or lost equipment)
Ensures completion of administrative tasks, emergency drills, forms and reports are performed to standard, and ensures participant records are organized and maintained
Serves as the main on site point of contact for communication with the Safekey office, parents, and CCSD staff regarding site concerns, participant behavior, incidents, etc. assists with parent meetings, and gives input on behavior plans as needed
Communicates regularly with full time or part time staff with regard to assigned site, parents or guardians, program activities and updates
Submits requests for special events, site signage and parent communications to the supervisor for preapproval
Provides hands on training for and monitors work performance of assigned site assistants and reports performance to assigned supervisor
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Safekey Site Assistant & Site Leader
Minimum 18 years of age.
Infant, Child, and Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid certification at time of start of reclassification.
Possess the physical agility necessary to demonstrate and maintain sports, and other recreation games and activities, including the ability to move, lift, and maintain equipment up to 25 lbs.
Possess the physical agility necessary to provide rapid response in urgent or time-sensitive situations, including, but not limited to kneeling on the floor returning to standing position to assist a child, traversing stairs, keeping pace with the children when they are moving, and other physical activities as needed to provide the safety, welfare, and security necessary.
Possess the ability to provide active, roving supervision of indoor and outdoor activities for extended periods (60minutes or more) while standing and walking in varying weather conditions, including heat.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with children in a group setting.
Bilingual skills are desirable.
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) Credential is preferred.
