Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Chemistry Automation Technician to join our on-site chemistry laboratory team in Menlo Park, CA. In this role, you will support the operation of automated synthesis workstations serving both internal research teams and external customer workflows. You will be responsible for preparing and executing chemical experiments based on defined protocols, ensuring high-quality and efficient operation of lab automation systems. This is a full-time, immediate opening for a candidate ready to contribute from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain automated chemical synthesis platforms according to established protocols from internal scientists and external customers.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare chemical solutions for use in automated workflows.
- Perform purification of reaction products using automated flash chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
- Follow detailed experimental protocols, ensuring reproducibility, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, system performance, and sample tracking.
- Ensure all lab operations comply with safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Support lab maintenance activities including inventory management, waste management, equipment calibration, and workspace cleanliness.
- Collaborate effectively with chemistry and engineering teams to troubleshoot processes and suggest improvements to automation workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory, preferably with exposure to automated synthesis or purification systems.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with common chemistry lab techniques, including solution preparation, weighing, and purification methods.
- Familiarity with automated flash chromatography and HPLC systems.
- Ability to understand and follow complex, detail-oriented experimental protocols with precision.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on-site at our Menlo Park facility Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with or programming chemical automation systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
Compensation:
The anticipated compensation range for this role is $65,000–$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including equity incentives.
