The Exploratory Peer Academic Advisor position plays a vital role in supporting fellow students in the beginning of their academic journey. In this position, you will serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource by helping peers navigate course selection, understand degree requirements while they find their future educational path, and connect with the campus support services they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
• Class Selection Guidance: Help students choose courses that align with their major requirements, personal goals, and academic schedule.
• Degree & Scheduling Support: Answer questions about degree requirements, program plans, and how to build a well-balanced semester schedule.
• Campus Resource Referrals: Connect students with relevant campus resources, including tutoring centers, financial aid, mental health services, and student organizations.
• Peer Advising & Academic Coaching: Provide one-on-one peer advising sessions that offer practical academic guidance in a supportive, relatable environment.
 

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be currently enrolled as a full time student at the main University of Nevada, Reno campus
• In good academic standing (minimum 2.75 GPA preferred)

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Enthusiasm for helping fellow students succeed academically

NOTE:  This is a student staff position. Work is required to be conducted in-person.
