Social Media Intern
Overview
The Social Media Intern will support WMTC’s outreach, storytelling, and digital presence across multiple platforms. This position offers hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, photography, video, and brand storytelling.
The intern will work closely with WMTC team members to highlight member experiences, promote events and initiatives, and strengthen WMTC’s online presence. This is an ideal opportunity for a student pursuing communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, graphic design, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Coordination
- Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with WMTC’s voice and outreach goals
- Create and schedule engaging content (photos, videos, captions, graphics) across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and others
- Monitor platform activity and respond to messages/comments in a timely, community-centered manner
- Attend select WMTC events to capture live content and storytelling opportunities
- Collaborate with WMTC team members to amplify events, announcements, and milestones
- Monitor performance metrics and adjust content strategy based on engagement trends
- Stay current on social media trends, memes, and platform changes to inform content design
Event and Community Support
- Attend select WMTC events, including Cohort Days, orientations, celebrations, and community events, to capture content and support event storytelling
- Assist with event setup, registration, guest greeting, and light event support as needed
- Help ensure WMTC events and communications reflect a welcoming, organized, and mission-driven experience
- Collaborate with team members to promote upcoming events, deadlines, and announcements across social media channels

Qualificatios
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, ideally with a focus on Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Graphic Design. Graduation date of May 2027 or May 2028
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Displays excellent written and oral communication skills
- In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with event management tools is a plus.
