A.I. Training Lead
Position Overview North Carolina A&T State University seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented AI Training Lead to support the implementation and launch of the university’s AI-powered student engagement platform, including AI One Stop. This role is critical to ensuring that AI agents are accurately trained, fully functional, and aligned with institutional goals for student success, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
The AI Training Lead will work to create the AI knowledge base, responsible for content development, system training, testing, and optimization of AI interactions. This position will work cross-functionally with academic units, administrative offices, IT, and external partners to ensure that the AI system delivers high-quality, accurate, and personalized experiences for students and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
AI Knowledge Base Development & Management
• Build, curate, and maintain a comprehensive AI knowledge base using institutional content and resources
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of all AI training materials prior to launch
• Lead the ingestion of information through document uploads, email-based training, and stakeholder interviews AI Training & Optimization
• Ensures the AI’s knowledge base is complete, accurate, and ready for launch
• Identifies the right resources, manages uploads, and tests conversation quality • Continuously test, refine, and improve conversation quality, accuracy, and user experience 1
• Validate AI responses to ensure alignment with university policies, procedures, and services
• Conduct iterative testing cycles and implement improvements based on feedback and analytics Onboarding & Implementation Support
• Play a central role in AI onboarding phases, including: o General AI enablement o Data integration support (in coordination with Data Lead) o Final system readiness and go-live preparation
• Support knowledge base population during onboarding (estimated 5–10 hours initial load and ongoing refinement) Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with:
o Strategy Lead to align AI outputs with institutional goals
o Data Lead to ensure proper integration and data accuracy
o Functional units (Financial Aid, Advising, Housing, Campus Enterprises, etc.) to gather content and validate workflows
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to capture tacit knowledge and service workflows Testing, Quality Assurance & Reporting
• Lead internal testing and refinement cycles prior to system launch
• Monitor AI performance and provide regular updates on readiness and effectiveness
• Participate in report card reviews and provide recommendations for improvement Training & Change Management
• Support training sessions for campus stakeholders on AI workflows and communication modes
• Develop documentation and best practices for ongoing AI content updates
• Promote adoption and effective use of AI tools across campus units
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management, program implementation, or related field
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects and timelines
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with AI platforms, chatbots, or knowledge management systems
• Background in higher education administration, student services, or digital transformation initiatives
• Familiarity with CRM/SIS systems (e.g., Banner, Salesforce) and data integration processes
• Experience in content strategy, instructional design, or user experience optimization
• Certification in project management (PMP, Agile, or similar)
