Job Summary:
This is the Americorps Vista Position: The Volunteer Recruitment Program Manager supports the execution of volunteer recruitment strategies to attract, engage, and retain volunteers for H.U.G. This role focuses on implementing recruitment initiatives, building community relationships, and ensuring a smooth onboarding and placement process for volunteers. The Program Manager works closely with the Director of Volunteer Recruitment and internal teams to meet organizational volunteer needs, with a strong emphasis on supporting senior volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement volunteer recruitment strategies developed by the Director of Volunteer Recruitment
- Conduct outreach to community organizations, schools, and senior centers to recruit volunteers
- Support recruitment efforts targeting diverse populations, including senior citizens
- Provide basic technological guidance to volunteers, especially seniors, to support onboarding and participation
- Assist in organizing and attending community events, tabling opportunities, and networking initiatives
- Coordinate volunteer intake, including initial communication, scheduling, and follow-up
- Facilitate volunteer onboarding processes, including connecting volunteers to training sessions
- Collaborate with regional directors and tutor trainers to support volunteer placement into tutoring sessions
- Maintain communication with volunteers to ensure engagement and satisfaction
- Track volunteer participation, availability, and feedback using internal systems
- Input and update volunteer data in H.U.G. client management systems
- Assist in developing and distributing marketing and outreach materials
- Support the creation of reports on recruitment and retention efforts
- Ensure volunteers understand organizational expectations, policies, and mission
- Provide ongoing support and respond to volunteer inquiries or concerns
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or program support preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build relationships with diverse community groups
- Organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable using technology, databases, and virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom)
- Ability to guide others in basic technology use
- Experience working with senior populations is a plus
- Experience in education, training, or nonprofit environments is desirable
- This position is funded through Americorps. Eligibility is mandatory
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must reside in Florida
- Available full-time 40 hours per week
