Graduate Trading Assistant

OUR TRADE ASSISTANT TEAM

Our Trade Assistant team is fundamental to many aspects of our business. Our mission is to be the front-line support to the Investment Desk for all post-trade activities with the highest degree of accuracy and speed. We proactively look to understand trading activity and ensure accurate reflection for both internal risk and real-world settlement.

We work on a number of different projects, from market projects to internal initiatives. We are focused on streamlining processes and improving the control environment.

Our team brings together people who are passionate about the financial markets and thrive in a demanding and fast-moving environment. We believe strongly in continual progression, both with improvements to our internal processes and development of product expertise across a range of asset classes.

The team work closely with other departments across the business, including: the Investment Desk, Risk, Operations, Fund Control, Quantitative Analytics and Technology.

 

WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES?

As a Trade Assistant, responsibilities will typically include:

  • Daily blotter management and both close and live P&L and risk reporting
  • Booking transactions, understanding the risks and pricing of complex products
  • Monitoring expiries/fixings/futures rolls — understand and present the associated P&L/risk changes
  • Provide first line of support to the portfolio managers and execution traders
  • Providing SME knowledge to help drive process enhancements
  • Monitoring offsetting transactions and collapsing accordingly (ISDA protocols)
  • Resolving administrator and counterparty queries

 

WHAT MAKES A GREAT CANDIDATE?

In order for you to get the most out of this role, you'll need to have:

  • Minimum 3.3 GPA from top college or international equivalent
  • Interest in Financial Services and Hedge Funds, shown by internships in the sector
  • An excellent practical and methodological approach to your work
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive response to mistakes
  • An ability to question, challenge and improve processes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with coding languages such as Python and VBA is desirable
