Social Media Coordinator

Social Media & Marketing Coordinator (Intern / Student Contract) Low Light Innovations LLC | East Greenwich, RI (Hybrid / Remote-Friendly) Part-Time | 5–15 hours/week | Paid

About Us Low Light Innovations is a small, founder-led night vision manufacturer building the gear we always wished existed — accessible, no-compromise, and backed for life. Headquartered in East Greenwich, RI, our team designs, machines, and assembles everything under one roof, from precision housings to complete binocular systems used by civilian, law enforcement, and military end users worldwide. We've built a loyal following across Instagram, Facebook, and our dealer network, and now we're looking for someone to help us tell our story better.

The Opportunity We have a strong product, a strong community, and a founder origin story worth telling — we just need someone who lives and breathes content to help us bring it to life. This role is flexible: it can be structured as a formal internship, a part-time contract, an independent study, or a marketing capstone — whatever fits your program and goals. You'll work directly with the founders and have real ownership over how our brand shows up online.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, shoot, edit, and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, and emerging platforms (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
  • Help develop campaigns around product launches, trade shows, and brand storytelling
  • Capture behind-the-scenes content in our shop — the machining, the builds, the people
  • Engage with our community: comments, DMs, dealer mentions, customer features
  • Track what's working (reach, engagement, conversions) and bring ideas to the table
  • Support email marketing, blog content, and occasional press/PR coordination
  • Travel with the team to trade shows and events for live coverage (see below)

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program — marketing, communications, media, film, design, or related (we care more about your eye and instincts than your major)
  • A strong portfolio or personal social presence that shows you understand how to make content people actually stop scrolling for
  • Proficiency with content tools (Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Canva, Lightroom, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube as a creator, not just a user
  • Strong writing voice — short-form captions, longer-form storytelling, both
  • Self-directed; you can run with an idea without being micromanaged

Nice to Have

  • Photography and/or videography skills (DSLR, mirrorless, drone, gimbal work)
  • Motion graphics or basic After Effects
  • Experience with email platforms (Klaviyo, Mailchimp) or e-commerce content
  • Interest in firearms, outdoor industry, military/LE culture, or photography — our audience lives in these spaces
  • Previous internship or freelance experience managing a brand's social presence

Why This Role Is Worth Your Time

  • Real ownership over a real brand with an engaged audience (~29K on Instagram, growing fast)
  • Direct collaboration with the founders — your ideas ship, fast
  • Build a portfolio of real campaigns, not class projects
  • Travel opportunities (fully covered) to domestic and international trade shows, industry events, and shoots — past and upcoming destinations include events across the U.S. and Europe
  • Exposure to the full marketing stack: organic social, paid, email, PR, events, brand strategy
  • Flexible hours that work around your class schedule, 5–15 hours/week

Compensation & Logistics

  • Paid hourly, rate based on experience
  • All travel expenses (flights, lodging, meals, ground transport) fully covered
  • Remote-friendly for content planning and editing; periodic on-site time in East Greenwich, RI for shoots strongly preferred
  • Open to academic credit arrangements if your program supports them

To Apply Send a resume, links to any social accounts, portfolios, or content you've made (personal or professional — we want to see your taste), and a short note about why this role caught your eye. All applications and portfolios should be sent to i.depalo@lowlightinnovations.com to be reviewed.
