Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Game UI/UX Design Intern for the summer. In this role, you will receive hands-on mentorship while supporting the conceptual design of user interfaces and experiences for educational games and interactive learning tools.
This position is ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student looking to build a robust portfolio in game design, EdTech, or product design within a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design user interfaces for educational games, interactive learning tools, and student-facing digital products.
- Create wireframes, mockups, user flows, prototypes, game screens, menus, buttons, icons, and layout concepts.
- Help improve the usability, clarity, and visual appeal of game-based learning experiences.
- Support the design of onboarding flows, level selection screens, progress displays, reward systems, feedback screens, and student dashboards.
- Create UI assets and visual components that are clear, age-appropriate, and engaging for K–12 students.
- Assist with organizing gameplay information, learning goals, instructions, and feedback into simple user experiences.
- Review existing game or product concepts and suggest improvements for navigation, layout, interaction, and visual consistency.
- Collaborate with academic, design, marketing, and technology team members to understand project goals.
- Prepare design files, prototypes, screenshots, UI assets, icons, and version notes for internal review.
- Revise designs based on team feedback.
- Organize design assets, templates, references, and project files.
Requirements
- Current student (undergraduate or graduate) in Game Design, UI/UX, Graphic Design, HCI, EdTech, or a related field.
- Basic familiarity with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma).
- A strong eye for layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and user flow.
- Excellent communication skills and a growth mindset open to constructive feedback.
- Reliable remote setup (computer and stable internet). Note: DeepBrain Academy will provide access to necessary collaborative design workspaces.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)
- A preliminary portfolio, website, or school projects showing UI/UX concepts, game screens, or app layouts.
- An interest in K-12 education, STEM, or youth-facing digital products.
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin (highly valued for supporting bilingual design materials and community communication).
