Position Summary
The Teach from DeHart Foundation is seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Intern to assist in managing and growing our digital presence. This role is ideal for students or emerging professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in social media management, nonprofit communications, and community engagement. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Manager to craft engaging content, manage multiple social media platforms, and develop strategies that elevate the organization’s mission and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and schedule engaging content for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok
- Assist in developing and implementing a monthly social media content calendar
- Support marketing campaigns and special initiatives (fundraising, events, partnerships) through digital storytelling
- Capture and edit photos or short videos from school and community events
- Analyze engagement metrics and help recommend improvements to grow audience reach
- Research social media trends relevant to education, youth empowerment, and nonprofit advocacy
- Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and ensure posts align with organizational values
- Collaborate with staff on communications, graphic design, and multimedia projects as needed
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Education, or a related field
- Proficient in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok)
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, or similar tools preferred)
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and an eye for aesthetics
- Passion for education, community engagement, and digital media storytelling
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a hybrid or remote environment
