Financial Specialist

Job Summary

The Finance Specialist is responsible for managing Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions while providing support to the finance team. This role ensures accurate financial transactions by communicating with and receiving payment from clients and tracking client payments. assists with month-end close processes, and contributes to special projects as needed. The Financial Specialist also assists in budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure Spire is situated for future success. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generate invoices, send bills to customers, and process payments using various payment methods.
  • Maintain accurate customer balances by tracking and recording all invoices, payments, and charges in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the formulation of internal controls and policies to enhance financial efficiency and compliance.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients regarding billing inquiries and payments.
  • Escalate and collaborate with relevant parties to resolve customer issues and address delinquent payments.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with operations to obtain status updates on client billings.
  • Conduct weekly aging reviews and report findings to the controller.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within a rapidly growing company.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline financial operations
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and internal controls, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Prepare month-end analysis for Balance Sheet items.
  • Assist with month-end closing tasks, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain incoming cash forecast on a daily basis. Assist in budgeting.

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting.
  • Experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general finance roles. 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks desktop.
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to the success of the finance team.
