Business Strategy & Festival Operations Intern (Volunteer)

Unique opportunity to work closely with cultural leaders to shape the future of Korean-American arts and a new, border-transcending cultural festival!

Seeking a motivated, business-minded Intern to assist the Korean American Arts Council (KAAC) in optimizing our business model and ensuring our innagural festival is both efficient and profitable. This role is perfect for someone passionate about the intersection of Korean culture and the American "melting pot" who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit management and event scaling.

Position Overview

  • Role: Volunteer (Unpaid – great for college credit or portfolio building)
  • Schedule: Part-time, project-based hours (mutually agreed upon)
  • Location: Fully Remote
  • Focus: Business Modeling, Operational Efficiency, and Festival Profitability

Duties Include

  • Business Model Optimization: Analyze current revenue streams (sponsorships, vendors, tickets) and propose strategies for financial growth.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamline festival workflows and logistics to reduce overhead and improve the attendee experience.
  • Sponsorship Research: Identify and outreach to corporate and local partners interested in supporting Korean-American cultural initiatives.
  • Market Analysis: Research trends in the US "melting pot" festival scene to position KAAC as a premier cultural destination.
  • Budgeting & ROI: Assist in developing budgets and tracking the return on investment for festival programming.
  • Vendor Management: Help coordinate and communicate with vendors to ensure professional and profitable partnerships.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with leadership to align festival goals with the long-term mission of the Council.

  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and project management tools.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent writing skills for outreach and internal reporting.
  • Problem Solver: Able to identify "bottlenecks" in operations and suggest creative solutions.
