STEM Summer Program Instructor

Project-Based & Integrated STEM Education

Position Overview

We are seeking passionate and experienced STEM educators to join our summer education team in Chongqing, China. This role supports two age-appropriate STEM summer programs: one designed for elementary-aged students, and another designed for upper elementary to middle school students.

Both programs are built around Project-Based Learning and integrated STEM education. Students will explore real-world problems, work collaboratively, design solutions, build and test ideas, and develop the competencies they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world, especially in the era of AI.

We are looking for educators who understand American science education, are familiar with inquiry-based and project-based learning, and are excited to help students develop curiosity, problem-solving ability, creativity, communication skills, and confidence through meaningful hands-on learning.

Program Dates

  •  Late July to early August 2026

Exact dates will be confirmed with selected candidates.

Candidates must be able to be physically present in China during the program period and must have appropriate legal status to work or participate in the program in China.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging project-based STEM learning experiences for elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Develop or adapt hands-on lessons that align with program goals and students’ developmental needs.
  • Instruct students through real-world problem-solving processes, including inquiry, research, design, building, testing, reflection, and presentation.
  • Facilitate collaborative student projects and support the development of creativity, confidence, communication, and resilience.
  • Create a positive, safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Work closely with the program team, teaching assistants, and local staff to ensure smooth program implementation.
  • Support students in preparing final project presentations or showcases.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in education, science education, STEM, engineering, technology, child development, or a related field.
  • Strong familiarity with U.S. elementary and/or secondary education, including U.S. science education frameworks such as the Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Experience with Project-Based Learning, inquiry-based learning, integrated STEM, design thinking, maker education, or other hands-on instructional approaches.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with elementary, upper elementary, or middle school students.
  • Ability to design or adapt curriculum themes, lesson plans, project activities, and classroom tasks.
  • Strong classroom leadership skills and the ability to guide students through hands-on, collaborative projects.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Patient, reliable, responsible, well-organized, and passionate about working with children and adolescents.
  • Ability to be in China from late July to early August 2026 with appropriate legal status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in U.S. schools, international schools, summer programs, STEM camps, science fairs, innovation challenges, or maker programs.
  • Experience with curriculum development for STEM, engineering design, environmental science, health science, data literacy, robotics, physical science, or interdisciplinary science topics.
  • Experience supporting multilingual or cross-cultural learners.
  • Experience helping students prepare project presentations, showcases, or portfolio-based outcomes.
  • Background in education, science education, engineering, STEM curriculum design, child development, or a related field.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are comfortable with open-ended learning, willing to break disciplinary boundaries, and excited to explore new possibilities in education with an international team.

You are patient with students, curious about different cultures, and passionate about preparing young learners for a future shaped by rapid technological and social change.

Compensation and Support

  • We offer competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, and program responsibilities.
  • For instructors traveling to Chongqing from other cities in China, we may provide travel and accommodation support.
  • This role also offers a meaningful cross-cultural teaching experience and potential opportunities for future collaboration with our organization and other education programs.
