Position Overview:
The Learning Resources Teacher provides targeted, evidence-based literacy and math intervention for students in grades 1–8. This role is ideal for a skilled specialist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and partnering with classroom teachers to ensure students meet grade-level expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide differentiated instruction through push-in and pull-out models, or co-teaching models
- Apply a strengths-based, student-centered approach, incorporating insights from educational evaluations and assessments
- Set goals for student outcomes and monitor progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction
- Partner with families through clear, proactive communication
- Support and contribute to departmental goals within Learning Resources
Schedule:
- 4 hours per day (morning schedule)
- Monday–Friday, 20 hours per week
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field, or Bachelor's degree with an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Montessori Certification
- Minimum of two years of experience providing targeted intervention in a school setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBSI) endorsement and/or certification in a structured literacy program (e.g. Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham, SLANT)
- Experience in a Montessori environment
- Demonstrated expertise in structured literacy and intervention design
