Field Service Technician

Job Description

The Conflex Field Service Technician & Machine Commissioning Specialist is a high-visibility, hands-on role centered on technical assistance, troubleshooting, and the commissioning of packaging equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring that quality and timely technical assistance is provided to our global customer base and that all goods and services meet the highest quality standards. 

Core Responsibilities

Field Service & Customer Engagement

  • Primary Field Presence: Act as the lead technical representative for Conflex during in-field technical assistance and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). 
  • Travel: Travel is a core requirement of this role, involving 40–70 days annually to support customers and equipment. Passport will be required for international travel.
  • Dedicated Customer Liaison: Work closely with customers and internal colleagues to provide expert technical installation support and specialized training. 
  • Professional Interactions: Deliver high-quality technical phone assistance and manage the service call log to ensure every customer issue is resolved professionally. 
  • Educational Leadership: Administer and present technical training presentations for the Conflex distribution network and provide on-site training to customers. 

 

Mechanical & Electrical Technical Mastery

  • In-Depth Troubleshooting: Utilize expert mechanical and electrical principles to troubleshoot complex machinery, determine faults, and implement effective solutions. 
  • Systems Commissioning: Perform expert downloading to PLCs and HMIs, manage system commissioning, and execute service or repair of all systems. 
  • Control Systems: Work independently with high-voltage control panels, motors, and low-voltage sensors and controls. 
  • Schematic Fluency: Maintain the ability to read and interpret complex mechanical assembly drawings and electrical schematics to ensure precise repairs and installations. 

 

 

 

Quality Control & Commissioning

  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Administer schedules and lead the FAT process for purchased equipment prior to shipment to ensure total customer satisfaction. 
  • Internal Standards: Inspect all machinery exiting production to ensure it meets strict Conflex quality standards and provide directives to production personnel. 
  • Technician Feedback: Provide Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and corrective actions to the engineering department regarding quality infractions or drawing corrections. 
  • Production Oversight: Advise upper management on timeline adjustments and staff requirements needed to accommodate sales directives and delivery schedules. 

 

Operational Support

  • Operational Flexibility: Assist in diverse activities related to machine function, product testing, and shipment to maintain operational efficiency. 
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Trade Show Engagement: Assist in the technical setup and teardown of equipment for industry trade shows and represent the company at these events. 

 

Requirements

  • Technical Aptitude: A strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a complete toolset for both disciplines. 
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical machinery with minimal guidance. 
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a detail-oriented, organized mindset. 
  • Physical Demands: Capable of heavy lifting and the physical demands associated with machinery installation and trade show activities.
