'CuseWorks: Student Experience Communications - Digital Communications Intern - AY 26-27

Department: Student Experience Communications

Duration: Academic year 2026-2027

Hours: Avg. 8-10 hours per week, regular business hours, with possible coverage of evening or weekend events

Hourly Rate: $16.00/hr

Description: Digital communications interns for the Student Experience division (SE) will be part of a multifaceted communications team, supporting content creation for websites, blogs, social media (filming, being filmed, editing) and other digital platforms. Interns will gain hands-on experience executing digital-focused communication activities that promote services, programs, events and opportunities that enhance the student experience. Interns will receive guidance from the SE Communications staff members as they generate ideas and write content for digital platforms, apply best practice digital strategies, serve as a social media content creator and manage website updates in accordance with an editorial calendar. Interns will play a large role in developing blog posts and digital content, while applying insights and analysis, to support reaching current student audiences and enhancing student communication.

 

Responsibilities:

·        Write news stories, blog posts, website content, serve as social media content creator (filming, being filmed, editing) and more highlighting departmental initiatives, programs, and events

·        Assist in the creation of social media content

·        Contribute to delivery of editorial calendar for The Peel, a student newsletter and blog

·        Update websites with new content and supporting images/graphics;

·        Apply digital communication best practices to content ideation and development

·        Monitor, review and analyze data from web and digital properties, including QR codes

·        Conduct keyword research and apply SEO best practices in writing

·        Participate in on-campus promotion (i.e. tabling in the Barnes Center at The Arch) for divisional activities and initiatives

·        Other tasks as assigned

 

Qualifications:

·        Experience writing for digital platforms, including blogs and websites, and applying different tones/voices easily

·        Strong writing and editing skills (AP Style)

·        Ability to follow University Editorial Style Guide

·        Demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing web analytics; applying data visualization

·        Understanding of SEO and keywords, UTM codes and QR codes

·        Experience using a content management system such as WordPress

·        Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects

·        Creativity

·        Deadline-driven
