Job Title: CuseWorks: Student Experience Ambassador Intern 

Department: Student Experience Communications

Duration: Academic Year 2026-27

Hours: Avg. 8-10 hours per week, regular business hours, with possible coverage of evening or weekend events

Hourly Rate: $16/hr

Description: The Student Experience Ambassador intern will be part of a multifaceted communication team, supporting digital content project management and creation for divisional social media accounts and the Peel e-newsletter and blog. In addition to ambassador responsibilities, this position will work with all members of the communications team to support the delivery of multichannel communications plans that promote the division’s programs, services, events and opportunities that enhance the student experience. This position will serve in a multifaceted role supporting day-to-day communication needs spanning digital, design, writing, social media (e.g., filming, being filmed, pitching ideas) and print, while also gaining experience in communications strategy, content development and account/project management. Interns will receive guidance from the SE Communications staff when developing videos, writing, graphics, imagery, animations, social media and digital media, that resonate with and reach current student audiences and enhance student communication.

- Social media content creation and project management. 

- Passion for Syracuse University and an eagerness to share the student experience by serving as a social media ambassador. 
- Digital content creation and project management for The Peel e-newsletter and blog.

- Serve as an ambassador for the Student Experience Division.
-  Write press releases, stories and blog posts about departmental initiatives, programs and events centered on the student experience

- Support the tracking, creation and execution of communications plans and associated tactics using a project management system

- Actively seek and generate content ideas (social media, e-newsletter and blog) by learning about the division and attending events, programs and activities hosted by departments

- Design promotional materials and graphics for web, social and print

- Maintain and update content for digital platforms, including University Events Calendar and divisional websites using WordPress

- Participate in on-campus promotional events

- Assist in compiling, editing and posting content for divisional channels, such as the divisional website and internal newsletter

-  Research communications methods, strategies, and best practices in higher education

-  Administrative tasks as needed

-  Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience writing for digital platforms, including blogs and websites, and applying different tones/voices easily
  • Familiarity creating social media content (filming, being filmed, pitching ideas, editing) and project management best practices
  • Strong writing and editing skills (AP Style)
  • Ability to follow University Editorial Style Guide
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing web analytics; applying data visualization
  • Understanding of SEO and keywords, UTM codes and QR codes
  • Experience using a content management system such as WordPress
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
  • Creativity
  • Deadline-driven

-  Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
