Elementary Music Teacher

Position Summary:
The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Elementary Music Teacher to join our team for a part-time, probationary position beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This position is located at Netherwood Elementary school.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in elementary general and vocal music education, and be passionate about fostering a love of music in young learners. The teacher will develop and deliver engaging music instruction that supports student growth, creativity, and musical literacy. We are looking for a dynamic and student-centered music educator who values active music-making through singing, movement, creative play, and instrumental exploration. Candidates should demonstrate strong classroom management skills, a commitment to developing musicianship and music literacy in diverse learners, and familiarity with approaches such as Music Learning Theory, Orff, Kodály, and other innovative elementary music pedagogies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and delivering age-appropriate general music instruction for elementary students
- Leading vocal music activities and performances
- Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Assessing and documenting student progress
- Collaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and school events
- Participating in professional development and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Certification in Music K–12
- BM, MM preferred
- Demonstrated experience in Elementary General Music and Vocal Music
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young students
- Commitment to collaboration with school staff, parents, and the broader school community
- Familiarity with New York State Learning Standards for the Arts
