IT & Security Engineer
Position Summary
The IT & Security Manager will manage Pharmacy1st Health’s day-to-day IT operations, security controls, site technology readiness, and vendor coordination across corporate, pharmacy, and clinic environments. Operating in a HIPAA-regulated environment, this role will support the protection of patient, pharmacy, and company data while ensuring reliable technology operations across a growing rural healthcare network.
This is a hands-on manager role for someone who can execute effectively, build scalable processes, support new pharmacy and clinic launches, and partner cross-functionally to keep systems secure, compliant, and operationally efficient.
Key Responsibilities
Security & Compliance Operations
- Manage and support Pharmacy1st’s HIPAA-aligned security program, including policies, training, incident response coordination, and security best practices.
- Support ongoing risk assessments, vulnerability remediation tracking, and security documentation efforts.
- Coordinate security awareness initiatives for HQ, pharmacy, and clinic staff.
- Assist with vendor security reviews, BAAs, and third-party compliance documentation.
- Help maintain audit-ready processes aligned with HIPAA, SOC 2, and future compliance initiatives.
Identity & Access Management
- Manage day-to-day account provisioning, deactivation, and access requests across pharmacy, clinical, and corporate systems.
- Maintain joiner / mover / leaver workflows tied to HR onboarding and offboarding.
- Support role-based access controls and periodic access reviews for sensitive systems.
- Ensure accurate documentation and audit-ready access logs.
IT Operations & Infrastructure
- Support the centralized IT strategy across corporate offices, pharmacies, and clinics.
- Coordinate hardware setup, networking, software deployment, and device management for new and existing sites.
- Manage core IT systems including identity management, MDM, helpdesk, endpoint protection, email security, and asset tracking platforms.
- Maintain IT inventory, device lifecycle management, and standard operating procedures.
- Help improve helpdesk responsiveness, uptime, and operational support across the network.
PioneerRx & Site Technology Support
- Coordinate PioneerRx deployments, upgrades, and migrations for pharmacy locations.
- Support site go-lives by ensuring hardware, networking, and user readiness are completed on time.
- Partner with pharmacy software vendors and local contractors to resolve escalations and implementation issues.
- Standardize technology configurations across locations including printers, scanners, signature pads, and workstations.
Local IT Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate local IT contractors and managed service providers supporting pharmacy and clinic locations.
- Maintain clear service expectations, escalation paths, and support workflows.
- Assist in building a reliable field support network across Pharmacy1st markets.
- Develop repeatable runbooks for routine onsite support and troubleshooting.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Operations, Care Delivery, Finance, and HR to support operational technology needs.
- Support IT and security due diligence efforts for acquisitions and new site integrations.
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen scalability, compliance, and user experience across the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of progressive IT and/or security experience in a multi-site environment.
- Experience supporting HIPAA-regulated or healthcare-adjacent environments preferred.
- Hands-on experience with endpoint management, identity/access administration, helpdesk operations, and vendor coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across distributed locations.
- Clear communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
Preferred
- Experience supporting pharmacies, clinics, or healthcare operations.
- Familiarity with PioneerRx or similar pharmacy management systems.
- Experience working in high-growth or rapidly scaling organizations.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, or similar are a plus but not required.
