Hours: 10 – 15; The number of hours weekly can be adjusted based on school schedule.
Reports to: Marketing and Communications Team
Compensation: Unpaid. Academic credit may be available depending on school policies.
About SOME: SOME (So Others Might Eat) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty in Washington, D.C. We provide a range of services, including food, housing, healthcare, substance use treatment, and job training to help people transform their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Interns play a key role in helping us fulfill our mission.
Position Overview: SOME (So Others Might Eat) is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Content & Blog Writing Intern to join our Marketing and Communications team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in marketing and communications while making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. The intern will support our communication strategy for our various initiatives, work closely with our marketing team, and spend time in the field at various housing sites, SOME’s dining room, food pantry, and clothing room, collaborating with SOME staff to develop detailed stories for the website and social media. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented with excellent proofreading and editing skills, and eager to support SOME’s mission to help those in need.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect Stories and Create Content: Assist in telling our organization’s story by creating engaging content, including blog posts, emails, and more.
• Provide Creative Insight: Identify gaps in our content and recommend new topics.
• Collaborate with Staff: Work alongside the team in creating marketing copies to go along with SOME’s social media content.
• Maintain Consistency: Maintain all-around consistency in tone and style.
• Update Website: Update website content as needed.
• Publication Ready Content: Create clear, engaging, and professional content that’s ready for immediate posting.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Remain flexible and willing to step in where needed.
