Environmental Health and Safety Intern
EHS Internship - Harwood / Fargo, ND Location $18-22/HR
Ellingson Companies is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Intern to join our team this summer. The primary function of this role is to implement safe work conditions and correct unsafe work conditions in construction-type environments.
The EH&S Specialist Intern also collaborates with the management team to ensure Ellingson Companies EH&S, OSHA, MNOSH, and other governmental agencies’ policies/procedures and regulations are adhered to. Along with on-site leaders, the EH&S Specialist Intern takes a proactive approach and has the authority to implement corrections and stop unsafe work conditions.
The intern in this role will work with leaders in the organization to participate in real safety work as it happens across the company, and will make frequent day trips to job sites as part of this internship. The following is a broad overview of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Monitor job sites and the Company’s shop and office facilities for safety.
- Identify potential hazards and unsafe work conditions.
- Assist in incident investigations.
- Assist in formatting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and attend EH&S toolbox safety meetings.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled to obtain an Associates or higher level degree program in Occupational Safety or Environmental Health and Safety preferred, or pursuing a degree in Construction Management or related field of study.
- Prefer completion of OSHA 30-hour class for the construction industry.
- Prefer training in Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Material Cleanup.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and industry standards is desirable.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current federal, state and industry regulations is desirable.
- Work productively while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
