Skills Trainer II - Community Based Services

Salary Range:$22.00 To $22.00 Hourly

Through ongoing assessment and guided support, you will help individuals build the skills and confidence needed to achieve life-changing career success. Services are provided in a variety of professional settings, including healthcare facilities, corporate and professional offices, retail environments, and other diverse career paths.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The purpose of the Skills Trainer II position is to provide support, training, transportation, and on-the-job instruction to adults with developmental disabilities who are enrolled in Community Based Employment, day program, and specialized support programs. These programs can include but may not be limited to, specialized programs within external employment sites, Paid Internships, Employment First, Intensive Supported Employment, and all community support programs.

Important Note: Skills Trainers are required to follow all policies and procedures related to the support, training and interaction with Persons Served (individuals with disabilities). Skills Trainers who violate policies related to their interactions with Persons Served, particularly the “Dependent Adult Abuse” policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination depending upon the severity of the incident.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 

Must be twenty-one years of age. High school diploma or GED; some college courses in a related field preferred. Six months experience working within the CBS programs or equivalent work experience. Two years’ work experience in a variety of occupational areas with at least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred. Particularly working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors. Familiarity with disabilities. Must possess a personal mobile phone and agree to use it for official work purposes in accordance with the Cell Phone Reimbursement Policy. Effective writing skills to complete required documentation. Agrees to special guidelines; Skills Trainer Specification Relating to Administration of Pay and Schedules (see next page) that clarifies work hours, pay, lunch breaks, rest breaks, and time off.

Have own reliable vehicle that can seat at least four (4) passengers with standard equipped seatbelts. Must possess valid California Driver’s license and carry minimal liability insurance. Must have a clean driving record and submit to routine DMV pull notice program. As the safe transportation of individuals is an important aspect of this position, Team Members must maintain a DMV record, which remains in good standing and does not include DUI or reckless driving convictions. Failure to maintain a DMV record in good standing may result in separation from Goodwill of Orange County. Meets host site hiring qualifications and health clearance requirements.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM- 3:00 PM/Full-Time.
