Summer Aide
SUMMER AIDE
Under immediate supervision, employees perform a wide variety of entry-level assignments that support the daily operations of City departments and programs. Employees may assist with recreational programming, special events, grounds and facility maintenance, customer service operations, community engagement activities, and other general support functions that help ensure the smooth operation of City services. Although many positions are seasonal in nature, opportunities may also be available throughout other times of the year based on departmental needs.
Assignments may be available in a variety of settings including parks, golf courses, pools, recreation centers, community programs, public events, and other City facilities. Employees may work alongside regular City staff in areas such as grounds maintenance, special events, recreation programming, youth engagement, pool operations, night security, and general labor support. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
- Assist with grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, trash and debris removal, and upkeep of parks and public spaces.
- Support special events by helping with setup, breakdown, crowd assistance, equipment movement, and event operations.
- Assist at golf courses with customer service, grounds support, and general operational tasks.
- Work in recreation centers or summer programs helping supervise youth activities, crafts, sports, games, and enrichment programs.
- Serve as Recreation Aides or Night Recreation Aides supporting evening programming and teen engagement activities.
- Assist at City pools as Pool Recreation Aides or Lifeguards (where appropriately certified).
- Provide facility monitoring or night security support at designated City locations.
- Perform clerical or customer service functions including answering questions, filing, greeting visitors, and assisting staff with basic office support tasks.
- Perform other related entry-level duties depending on departmental assignment.
