Camp Counselor

We are looking for individuals to join our 4-week Summer Camp Program in Raleigh NC.  We are an academic and youth engagement summer camp, not just babysitting.  We offer interactive classes like Mathematics, Robotics, Dance, Theatre, Public Speaking, Stem, and much more. Our 4 week Academic Summer Camp is looking for Counselors to join our team. 


 

Our Counselors will manage at least one Core Class and one Elective, running the classroom as the students transition though the schedules.  Camp counselors are responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and supervision of campers while leading recreational activities and fostering a positive environment. Key duties include mentoring children, enforcing camp rules, leading classrooms, and communicating with parents. They often guide campers through daily routines, including meals, hygiene, and scheduled activities.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Supervision and Safety: Maintain constant supervision of campers to ensure a safe, healthy environment, including during water activities. Implement emergency protocols and first aid/CPR when necessary.
  • Classroom Management: Plan, lead, and participate in daily classes.
  • Camper Care and Mentorship: Provide emotional support, help children adjust to camp life, and foster positive social interactions, self-esteem, and friendships.
  • Routine Management: Supervise daily routines like bathroom breaks, cleanup, meals, and personal hygiene.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete required documentation and report any incidents or injuries to camp leadership.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison with parents or guardians regarding camper well-being.

Camp Counselors play a vital role in supporting the overall camp experience by working directly with scholars, assisting with activities, and helping maintain a positive, engaging environment.


 

Requirements (including but not limited to):
 

  • Be present on-site for the full duration of camp: Monday - Friday from June 29th through July 24th
  • Report every work day on location by: 9:00 AM ready to begin the day. Dismissal at 5:00 PM or 8:00am to Check in Campers with Dismissal at 4:00pm (at the Directors Discretion).
  • Attend and fully participate in 1 in-person staff training.
  • Oversee and support assigned groups of campers.
  • Lead at least one class and seminar, ensuring engagement and alignment with camp objectives
  • Actively support and help facilitate daily programming and camp wide activities
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude
  • Clear verbal communication with campers, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain active supervision of students during all activities, including field trips and transitions
  • Model leadership, patience, and effective communication when working with youth
  • Ability to handle behavioral issues or emergencies effectively.
  • Reports to Camp Director and The Fusion Experience Leadership

Physical Requirements

  • Stamina: Must be able to handle working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Mobility: Requires ability to walk, stand, run, sit, and traverse uneven terrain.
  • Lifting: Able to lift and move equipment or supplies, sometimes up to 50 pounds.
