About the Position:
This position supports students with mid to moderate disabilities in a rigorous, inclusive educational environment and is responsible for delivering specialized instruction, managing a caseload of approximately 16-19 students, and ensuring compliance with IDEA and Colorado special education requirements.
The Special Education Teacher/Coordinator provides services through push-in support, small group instruction, and individualized interventions while partnering closely with general education teachers, families, related service providers, and administrators to ensure student success. This role also supports coordination of special education programming, including scheduling, compliance, paraprofessional supervision, and collaboration around accommodations and student supports.
The ideal candidate is student-centered, highly organized, adaptable, and committed to fostering academic growth, independence, and positive relationships within a collaborative K-8 school community.
Compensation/Salary:
- Bachelor’s Degree: $55,620/year to $66,950/year (11-year experience cap)
- Master’s Degree: $57,268/year to $73,130/year (11-year experience cap)

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree at minimum, master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Student teaching for at least one semester in a related field.
- Experience with Core Knowledge a PLUS!
- One year of special education coordinator or equivalent experience.
- One year of special education teaching experience.
- Prior experience in the following areas:
- Preparing schedules for student support
- Record keeping for student services provided
- Preparing schedules for special education paraprofessionals that would provide adequate student support and services.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license with a Special Education Generalist endorsement (Ages 5-21), or enrollment in an approved alternative license program by the start date. Dual certification/endorsement a PLUS!
- The ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
- The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team. (Having respected and trusted colleagues, preferably as teammates, makes the demands of teaching sustainable.)
- A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in response to changing student needs, curriculum, and school priorities.
- A belief in empowering all children as owners of their learning.
