Economic Policy Intern
The Office of Economic Policy, U.S. Treasury Department is currently looking for college students interested in Economics for our Fall, 2026 internship session. Internships will be from September through December. Interns will work on-site at the Main Treasury building.
The Office of Economic Policy reports on current and prospective economic developments and assists in the determination of appropriate economic policies. The office is responsible for the review and analysis of both domestic and international economic issues and developments in the financial markets.
Interns will work directly with senior economists on a wide variety of in-depth studies in areas, including (but not limited to) the Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs, housing, labor markets, education, energy, infrastructure and supply chain. The results of these analyses are used as major inputs for developing Treasury and Administration economic policy positions.
Candidates should have strong writing skills, and knowledge of software packages Excel, Stata, or R is a plus, a class in econometrics or statistics required. Our intern positions are unpaid, however, we are able to subsidize public transportation costs.
