Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team in a busy Podiatry medical office in Hyattsville. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the front desk operations in a clinical setting, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. This role requires strong administrative skills, excellent phone etiquette, and familiarity with medical coding and electronic health record systems is a plus. Bilingual candidates who can communicate in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply. We are looking for a candidate to fill the position for at least one year part-time or full-time.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and cancellations efficiently.
- Answer phone calls professionally, addressing inquiries and directing calls as needed.
- Maintain patient records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient intake forms and verify insurance information.
- Assist with medical coding tasks using ICD-10 as necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth patient flow within the clinic.
- Handle administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
- Taking x-rays, obtaining a medical history and patient intake information.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist/Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a clinic is preferred.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems is a plus, if not training will be provided.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices (ICD-10) is a plus, training will be provided.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications in medical administration are a plus.
