Children’s Leader/Job Description

Position Summary: The Children’s Leader handles choosing and teaching a bible lesson each Sunday. S/he handles the supervision of the schoolchildren left in church care between the hours of 10:00am. and 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.  Occasional hours may be needed for evening or Saturday church events at least once a week. The Children’s Leader handles recruiting both children from the neighborhoods and the participating Project Transformation Reading Camp.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Greets all children and parents as the child is dropped off. 
2. Completes a log showing the name of the child, the parents and phone number. 
3. Provides activities for the children present. 
4. Reads to the children when proper. 
5. Alerts church member in the church foyer if a parent/guardian needs to be contacted during Sunday school or the church service.
6. Straightens the room after the children have left. 
7. Remove the crib sheet, if used, and wipe down the mattress.
8. Recruit volunteers to help in the children’s area.
9. The church van is available for pickup and events.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to sit on the floor when necessary to interact with children. 
2. Needs to be able to lift to 30 lbs.
