Part-time | After-School Hours (2:15pm-5:15pm, 2-4 days per week)

Compensation

$22.00 - $25.00

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and engaging After-School Instructor to facilitate a structured after-school program focused on emotional wellness, coping skills, self-regulation, and social-emotional development. This position works directly with students in a school-based setting and requires full compliance with Visalia Unified School District requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver age-appropriate mental health and social-emotional learning lessons
    Create a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment
  • Facilitate interactive activities such as group discussions, mindfulness practices, art, and movement
  • Support students in developing healthy coping strategies and emotional awareness
  • Maintain positive classroom management using restorative and supportive approaches
  • Communicate professionally with site staff and program leadership
  • Track attendance and complete required documentation
  • Follow all district, program, and confidentiality policies

    Required Qualifications

Applicants must be able to meet all of the following requirements at time of application:

  • Current TB clearance with documentation
  • Cleared background check through VUSD with documentation
  • Associate's Degree OR ability to pass the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) test
  • Mandated Reporter Training completed with documentation
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention Training completed with documentation
  • Experience working with children or youth in a school or group setting
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in psychology, counseling, social work, education, or related field
  • Experience teaching about mental wellness, SEL, or wellness-based programming
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Bilingual (preferred but not required)
