The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has an exciting vacancy to join our team as an Engineer Trainee within the Bureau of Air Management, Engineering Division's Stationary Source Control Group in Hartford, CT.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, Monday - Friday, and 35 hours per week with opportunities for a hybrid schedule that includes telework.
  • This position provides a unique opportunity to join a team committed to developing new programs to control emissions from stationary sources.
  • As an Engineer Trainee you will research air pollution control technology and analyze proposed federal rules for impacts on the state.
  • In your role you will also gather inventory information on stationary source categories and learn the regulatory development process, how to draft memorandum, regulations and air quality plans.

PLEASE NOTE: This position receives training under the direction of a supervisor or senior staff for a period of one year. Promotion to Environmental Protection Air Pollution Control Engineer 1 will occur after successful completion of the training program.


Career progression within the State of Connecticut: starting with Engineer Trainee, advancing to Air Pollution Control Engineer 1, then Air Pollution Control Engineer 2, then Air Pollution Control Engineer 3, and ending at Supervising Air Pollution Control Engineer.
