Certified Nursing Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients across various care settings, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role involves working closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and outpatient clinics. Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with medical terminology are highly valued. The Nursing Assistant will play a vital role in supporting patient recovery and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in medical records.
- Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques during patient care procedures.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as catheter care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, memory care, and behavioral health support.
- Prepare patients for examinations or treatments by ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Document patient information accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care delivery.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Support post-acute, sub-acute, inpatient, outpatient, home & community care settings based on experience.
- Respond promptly to patient needs in emergency situations such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments.
Qualifications
- Certification or experience in medical-surgical nursing assistance preferred; relevant experience in ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers is advantageous.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks required; proficiency in medical documentation and terminology essential.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient care practices including vital signs monitoring and catheter care.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as Level II Trauma Centers or urgent care settings.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols.
- Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred; additional certifications like Phlebotomy or DME experience are a plus.
