We are looking to recruit a Raman Sales Engineer to support our expanding Raman spectroscopy instrumentation business. The role is home-based with significant travel predominantly in the USA with occasional international travel.
What You’ll Be Doing?
Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Manager for the Americas, in this role you will play an important part in educating scientists and driving interest for the Company’s products. You will be responsible for a wide variety of sales-related functions including selling the Company’s entire Raman product line with a consultative sales approach. Ensuring consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues for defined regions through proactive outbound prospecting and effective management of the existing customer base.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promote and sell the company’s Raman products within the assigned territory and/or market segments to achieve sales targets.
- Qualify leads, develop customer interest in our instrumentation and actively follow them through to closure to meet or exceed targets.
- Generate accurate and timely quotations using CRM and quotation software, ensuring all customer interactions are documented in the sales database to support forecasting and pipeline management.
- Provide timely sales forecasts and reports as requested.
- Identify and engage with new groups in academia, government and industry to promote products using a combination of outbound outreach, inbound lead follow-up and networking.
- Analysis of the market in the USA to identify growth opportunities, new applications and funding trends.
- Liaise with internal teams to deliver technical demonstrations, development of bespoke configurations.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences and customer events to elevate the brand and identify new sales opportunities.
- Strengthen existing customer relationships and develop new relationships within the Americas research community.
What You’ll Need to Bring?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a physical science discipline. Chemistry, Material Science, Physics and understanding/knowledge of optical test and measurement would be a distinct advantage.
- Proven sales experience, understanding of the academic sales process and pipeline management a plus.
- Understanding of optical spectroscopy techniques such as photoluminescence or Raman spectroscopy/microscopy is strongly desired.
- Capability to provide simple solutions to technical problems based on customer requirements.
- Enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism with excellent communication and interpersonal skills is an important part of this role.
- Responsiveness and focus, combined with attention to detail are essential.
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines with proven analytical and numerical skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as part of a larger team.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Must have flexibility to travel nationally and internationally to visit customer sites and attend conferences to promote products. Travel is expected to be up to 30% of the time, predominantly in the USA with occasional international travel.
- Must also have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
