Compliance Intern
The candidate will perform and oversee AML/KYC and FATCA/CRS processes across clients who will be the key liaison with Client Service teams, and clients’ finance and legal teams to ensure clients are meeting compliance needs. Clients include Cayman and Delaware based funds. The candidate understands regulations and maintains processes for both jurisdictions of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investor Onboarding: Lead the end-to-end AML/KYC process for investors, ensuring identity verification and proper documentation before fund commitment.
- UBO Analysis: Analyze complex legal structures (Trusts, SPVs, offshore entities) to identify Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) and control persons.
- Sanctions & Screening: Conduct periodic ongoing screening against global watchlists, sanctions (OFAC, EU, UK HMT), and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) lists and monitors for trigger events that might change an investor’s risk profile.
- Risk Assessment: Assign risk ratings (Low, Medium, High) to investors, maintain risk trackers, and perform Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on high-risk profiles or sensitive jurisdictions.
- Program Maintenance: Assist in updating the firm’s written Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) policies and procedures.
- Tax Classification: Classify fund entities/identify reportable accounts according to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and the Common Reporting Standard (CRS).
- Self-Certification: Collect and validate tax self-certification forms (e.g., W-8/W-9 series) from all investors and their controlling persons.
- Annual Reporting: Coordinate and file annual FATCA and CRS reports with the relevant local tax authorities such as DITC (Department of International Tax Cooperation in Cayman Island), ensuring data integrity and adherence to varying jurisdictional deadlines.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay current on regulatory rules and industry updates.
