Position Overview

The Alumni Relations office is seeking a creative and detail-oriented student intern to assist in the preparation of high-impact media content for two major upcoming milestones: Homecoming and Family Weekend (October 9–11) and the University’s 175th Anniversary Celebration.

This role is ideal for a student with a strong background in video editing and graphic design who is interested in archival storytelling, digital marketing, and event promotion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Video Production & Archival Editing: Digitizing and restoring vintage 16mm/8mm film and VHS tapes from the University archives, specifically focusing on "Band Frolic" and historic campus traditions.
  • Highlight Reel Creation: Editing archival footage into engaging reels and montages to be showcased during Homecoming events and on social media platforms.
  • Graphic Design: Creating digital and print assets for the 175th Anniversary, including social media graphics, email headers, event signage, and promotional flyers.
  • Content Identification: Researching and cataloging historic performances and campus figures to ensure accurate labeling and titling in video projects.
  • 175th Celebration Support: Assisting with the production of "Pacific Conversations" video snippets and other media-rich storytelling projects.

Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve) and graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite—Photoshop/Illustrator—or Canva).
  • Storytelling Ability: A keen eye for pacing and narrative, especially when working with silent or archival footage.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in identifying historic details and maintaining brand standards for the University’s 175th-anniversary identity.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage digital assets and meet deadlines for project delivery.
  • Pacific Spirit: A general knowledge of University history and traditions (or a strong willingness to learn) is preferred.
