Counselor/Therapist

Far West Center is an award-winning community mental health center with locations in Westlake (Cuyahoga County) and Amherst (Lorain County), Ohio. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the State of Ohio to provide outpatient mental health services for individuals and families. Many of our services and programs are nationally recognized and innovative.

                                       COUNSELOR/THERAPIST

Position Summary:

The Counselor/Therapist position conducts mental health assessments and provides individual, family and group counseling/therapy for adults with mental health disorders. Counselors/therapists participate in multidisciplinary treatment, team coordination of care and monitoring client outcomes. Positions available at Westlake and Amherst offices.

Responsibilities:

  1.  Provides core clinical services, including but not limited to:  diagnostic assessments, creating individualized treatment plans; individual, family and group counseling, clinical record documentation, treatment progress evaluation, and client outcomes management.
  2. Maintain direct service productivity according to organizational requirements. 
  3. Participates in multi-disciplinary team conferences with psychiatric, case management, and other members of the treatment team. Makes appropriate referrals for other Center services.
  4.  Complies with the access standards of Far West Center regarding timeliness of services.
  5.  Utilizes evidence-based best practices in assessment and counseling/therapy services. 
  6.  Maintains clinical records that are complete, accurate, timely, and fulfill professional standards and regulatory or accreditation requirements. 
  7.  Assists with or supports performance improvement projects focused on quality and safety of clinical care. This includes assistance with the peer review process.
  8.  Participates in the credentialing process to assure accurate documentation for participation with insurance panels and third-party payors.
  9. Supports the Center’s Corporate Compliance Program.
  10. Supports the Center’s Cultural Competency Plan.

Requirements:

  1.  Master’s degree in mental health or human services field, or above, with independent licensure (LPCC, LISW, PhD) required. Supervisory designation in the State of Ohio preferred.
  2.  A minimum of 2 years of related clinical experience needed, preferably in an outpatient or    clinic setting.  
  3. Strong diagnostic, treatment and documentation skills required.
  4. Ability to meet/exceed agency productivity standards for direct services required.
  5. Experience with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, the Recovery Model, MI, DBT, and other best practices highly desirable.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nursing, case managers and other members of the treatment team.
  7. Strong computer skills needed; electronic health record experience preferred
