Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services (Mo P&A) – Staff Attorney- Kansas City, MO area

 

Position: Full-time Staff Attorney

 

Location: Kansas City, MO area

 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00, depending on experience.

 

Benefits:  Fully Remote Employment Position; eleven (11) paid holidays; three (3) floating holidays; generous sick, personal, and vacation leave; health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance (employer pays employee premiums and health insurance deductibles).

 

Two (2) Staff Attorneys wanted for Kansas City geographic area of Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services (Mo P&A), a non-profit, statewide, public interest law firm representing persons with disabilities. Will handle legal cases from initial client meeting through pleadings, discovery, and judgment; individual and systemic litigation in state and federal court, and administrative tribunals.  Litigation experience preferred.  Missouri Bar license in good standing required; must be eligible to obtain federal admissions.  Must be willing and able to travel statewide for case work and training, including overnight.  Areas of practice include disability-related legal rights.  No billable hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Missouri Bar License (Recent graduates taking the July 2026 Missouri Bar Exam may apply).
  • Admitted or eligible for admission to Eastern and Western District Courts of Missouri, and the Eighth Circuit.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Professional or personal experience with individuals that have disabilities
  • Knowledge of disability rights, disability service system, and benefits utilized by people with disabilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including explaining complex rules and technical concepts
  • Competent in using databases and software, including Microsoft Word, and case management systems
