Gameday Statistics and Media Relations
The Texas State Athletics Communications Department is seeking highly-motivated individuals to serve as gameday student assistants as members of the Bobcat Communications staff. The department hires between 5-7 student assistants each year.
The Office
The Communications Department promotes and publicizes Texas State’s 16 intercollegiate athletics programs through creative storytelling in the external media as well as on the athletic department’s social media accounts and athletics website (txst.com). The goal is to raise awareness of the people and programs that make Texas State and increase attendance and exposure of the athletic contests. The office also assists with social media strategy, generates short- or long form storytelling, manages in-game statistical software, coordinates media interviews, and maintains the historical archive of Texas State Athletics.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist on the gameday statistics crew for sports such as football, soccer, volleyball and basketball.
- Work with full-time communications staff to set up gameday media areas such as press boxes, press row, interview rooms, etc…, and help maintain those spaces throughout athletic contents.
- Help facilitate postgame press conferences by serving as the videographer at interviews as well as assisting with the transcription of quotes for media and postgame recaps.
Other duties as assigned on gameday.
Required Qualifications
- Previous playing experience or knowledge of rules and regulations in the sports listed above, with an emphasis on football.
- Applicants must have a flexible schedule on nights and weekends.

As a member of the Texas State Athletics Communications Department, one will establish a foundation for a career in media operations, gameday event management and gameday statistics, while increasing their knowledge of different intercollegiate sports.
(Opportunities are also available to attain college credit or on a volunteer basis if required qualifications are not met)
Preference will be given to candidates with sports background and graduating no earlier than Spring 2027.
