Data Science Intern

CPI is looking for a detail oriented Data Science Intern. This intern will gain knowledge in the following:

  • Using financial and operational data to identify and communicate key business drivers, operational metrics, emerging trends, and other key variables.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial information and providing insights in order to improve business performance.
  • Designing reports or visualizations independently or by interpreting the requirements that departments provide and translating them into reports that improve operational efficiency and better decision making.
  • Performing a variety of reporting assignments requiring knowledge of an emerging set of capabilities and tools that allow users to extract predictive and prescriptive insights.
  • Designing, developing, testing, documenting and implementing reports using SQL and Microsoft tools with a data visualization layer.
  • Developing appropriate and meaningful methods of communicating complex financial data in an easy to understand format, including developing reports, dashboards, and presentations for communicating operational and financial results.

Skills and Specifications

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Knowledge of reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Python, R, Power BI, or ETL frameworks).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to manage multiple assignments concurrently and independently, with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to suggest solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

 Education and Qualifications

Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Data Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics or related field and have completed their sophomore or junior year of academic courses from a university/college OR completed their freshman year of academic courses from a community or trade college. Candidate must be in good academic standing.
