FTE/Composite/Fiduciary (FCF) Departmental Specialist 13

**This position offers the ability to work remotely three days per week with a Flexible/Hybrid work schedule. **

The Michigan Department of Treasury seeks a highly motivated professional to serve as the Departmental Specialist for Flow-Through Entity (FTE) tax credit claims, Composite return filings, and Fiduciary return filings within the Individual Income Tax Technical (IITT) Unit. This role provides advanced technical expertise, develops external guidance, supports complex informal conferences, and coordinates litigation matters in partnership with internal divisions and the Attorney General’s Office. Work in this position directly supports fair and consistent tax administration for more than 125,000 taxpayers.

Key Duties
 • Serve as the Unit’s specialist for FTE tax credit claims, Composite return filings, and Fiduciary returns.
 • Provide technical guidance, research, and analysis on complex individual income tax issues.
 • Interpret tax laws and policies and recommend operational or procedural updates.
 • Develop and coordinate external guidance, publications, and presentations.
 • Lead complex informal conferences and resolve advanced taxpayer inquiries.
 • Coordinate litigation cases and provide subject-matter testimony.
 • Collaborate with internal divisions, tax practitioners, and external agencies.

Desired Qualifications
 • Knowledge of Michigan individual income tax, including FTE, Composite, and Fiduciary returns.
 • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
 • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and complex tax scenarios.
 • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
 • Ability to manage specialized assignments and work with diverse stakeholders.

Note: The "Salary" listed is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (P11) level. Qualifying years of experience is counted post bachelor's degree. Candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they qualify for. The final salary amount is determined by the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Note: A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying ‘professional experience’ is only taken into consideration post-bachelor’s degree.

Experience  

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
