Summer 2026 | Front Desk Assistant | McCoy College of Business Advising

Job description

The McCoy College of Business Advising Center is looking for work-study students to fill the Front Desk Student Assistant positions.

Job Duties Include:

  • Check in Appointments
  • Schedule Appointments
  • Answer phones, transfer calls and take messages
  • Filing
  • Assist student walk-ins
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk
  • Work on assigned advisor, admin and director projects

Qualifications Include:

  • Demonstrate interest in and respect for the unique environment of McCoy College
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, CatsWeb, and the Texas State Self-Service System
  • Strong typing skills with ability to type and talk on the phone simultaneously
  • Evidence of attention to detail
  • Strong team member with the ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing
  • Integrity, punctuality, and dependability

Direct Supervisor

Students will report directly to Jaecob Jones during their time of employment with the McCoy College Advising Center.

Employee Evaluation Process

Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.

Payrate Determination

Student employees will begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by .50 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the Student Assistant Evaluation For Raise form.

Enrollment Requirement

According to University Policy (UPPS) 07.07.03, all federal work-study student employees must maintain enrollment during a fall and spring semester to retain eligibility for work-study funds. In addition, state work-study student employees must be enrolled at least half time to retain their eligibility for state work-study funds.
