Production Process Engineer

Description/Job Summary

The Production Process Engineer is primarily responsible for detailed process and technical guidance to the Operations Team and identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements, including in areas such as: materials, machinery, methodologies, measurements and processes.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide detailed process guidance to the Operations Team in the execution of scheduled production.
  • Oversight of operations to identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, waste reduction, safety/ergonomics, etc.
  • Investigation and resolution of process and product deviations.
  • Development of process changes to accommodate new products and improvements to existing products.
  • Design and development of tools and fixtures to support lean manufacturing.
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Product Development, and Purchasing teams to develop products for manufacturability.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel to develop process and procedural documentation.
  • Works with Design Engineering during the component design phase to ensure the design can be manufactured in a cost effective manner.

Required Skills

  • Minimum three years of practical/relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
  • Strong, hands on mechanical/electrical/hydraulic experience.
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of PLC program diagnostics.
  • Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Able to operate effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years’ hands-on experience in manufacturing, process improvements and heat treatment of ferrous metals preferred.

Required Education

  • B.S. in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Material Science preferred or equivalent experience required
