Position Title: High School Principal
School: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy
Location: Moneta, VA
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy is seeking a visionary and Christ-centered High Principal to lead our high school program. The ideal candidate will provide strong academic, spiritual, and administrative leadership, fostering a nurturing environment where students in grades 6–8 can thrive. The High School Principal will champion the mission of SMLCA, preparing students for Today, Tomorrow, and Eternity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for the High School program, including academic, spiritual, and behavioral guidance
  • Support and mentor faculty and staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration
  • Oversee curriculum implementation and ensure alignment with school mission and standards
  • Promote a positive, safe, and Christ-centered school culture
  • Manage student discipline with fairness, consistency, and compassion
  • Collaborate with parents, students, and faculty to support student success
  • Develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and school-wide programs for junior high
  • Lead faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Serve as a visible and active presence in the school community
  • Teach one to two classes per year

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Administrative or leadership experience in a school setting strongly preferred
  • Commitment to Christian education and the mission of SMLCA
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire and mentor teachers, staff, and students
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
