Position Type: Full-Time
Position Overview:
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy is seeking a visionary and Christ-centered High Principal to lead our high school program. The ideal candidate will provide strong academic, spiritual, and administrative leadership, fostering a nurturing environment where students in grades 6–8 can thrive. The High School Principal will champion the mission of SMLCA, preparing students for Today, Tomorrow, and Eternity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership for the High School program, including academic, spiritual, and behavioral guidance
- Support and mentor faculty and staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration
- Oversee curriculum implementation and ensure alignment with school mission and standards
- Promote a positive, safe, and Christ-centered school culture
- Manage student discipline with fairness, consistency, and compassion
- Collaborate with parents, students, and faculty to support student success
- Develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and school-wide programs for junior high
- Lead faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Serve as a visible and active presence in the school community
- Teach one to two classes per year
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Administrative or leadership experience in a school setting strongly preferred
- Commitment to Christian education and the mission of SMLCA
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to inspire and mentor teachers, staff, and students
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
